Compliance

In the Maldives, contractors and developers are legally obligated to conduct thorough geotechnical assessments for building projects that meet specific criteria outlined in the Construction Administration Regulation 2019/R-1004. This includes any building rising to or beyond 37 meters from pavement level and any foundation requiring an EIA under the Environment Protection Act or related regulations. Failure to comply can result in substantial penalties, including fines of up to MVR 500,000.

To obtain foundation approval, your application must include details of the foundation type, design specifics, methodology used, foundation protection methods, and comprehensive geotechnical reports covering soil bearing pressure and ground settlement analysis. Ensuring these requirements are met is your responsibility as a contractor or developer.
